Customizing Grid Views: Overview

Using the Smart Client, you can customizing existing grid views and create new grid views that can include standard and child (drill-down) tables.

Customizing views: The Smart Client provides a variety of features to customize grid views. You can set filters so that the grid shows only the records you want to work with. You can define simple or complex filters, using the Filter Editor, Filter Row, or the Filter Icon menu options. You can sort views by one or more column headers, and select the fields shown in the view.

Creating new views: You can create ad hoc customized views, or you can add customized views to your Favorites list by using the Save command.

Filtering Views Use a Filter row to filter by any value defined for any field shown in the view. For example, set a filter to show only rooms for a specific building and floor. Searching for Records Using the Filter Row
 

Use the Filter icon options in the field title row to select restriction options for that field. For example, select to show only records that have no value entered for a field. Or, restrict the view to show only records having a specific value by selecting from a list of all values for a field in the current view.

Use the Filter Editor to create complex filters that can filter by multiple fields, and can include multiple conditions combined using a variety of operators. For example, create a filter that shows leases for suites whose area is within a certain range in either of two buildings.

Creating New Views

Select any table in the database and set the fields to display and sort order. .

This is handy for reviewing the data in a table or the schema underlying the table. If needed, after selecting the tables, you can further customize the view, for example, by filtering the data or selecting the fields to be shown.
