Review and Edit Room Details from the BIM Model

Directly from the BIM model you can see room details and change details if necessary.

Review the Room Profile for a Selected Room

Follow this sequence to receive details on an equipment item depicted in the model.

  1. Load the BIM Viewer and use the Buildings command to load a model.

  2. Click the Rooms tab.

  3. In the Rooms pane, click the checkbox for a floor and click View Rooms button. In the viewer, the model displays a floor plan, which includes labels and if needed you can turn off the labels if desired.

  4. Click on a room. The viewer displays it in a lighter shade of blue (default setting). You can set the color for selecting items using the BIM Viewer Settings command.

  5. Right-click on the selected room and choose More Actions > View Details from the menu. The Room Details form displays the building, categorization, organization, room specifications, other fields.

When you have finished looking at the room details, you can click the Close button. This frees the cursor so you choose other commands and actions.

Edit Room Details

Note: Editing the room information from the BIM Viewer updates only room records in Archibus; it does not automatically push the information to the Revit model. To update information in the Revit model from Archibus, you must work with the Archibus Smart Client Extension for Revit.

  1. Follow the above procedure to select a room from the BIM model and display it in the Room Details form.

  2. Click the Edit button at the top of the Rooms Detail form to activate edit mode.

  3. You can now edit any of the fields displayed on the form. For information on the fields of the Rooms form, see Defining Locations / Rooms.

  4. When you have completed your edit, click the Save button.

Display Additional Fields in the Room Details Form

The Room Details form presents a small set of the fields of the Rooms table. If you would like to display additional fields on the Room Details form, see User-Defined Fields / Create a New Field.

Follow the above procedure to select a room from the BIM model and display it in the Room Details form.

  1. Click the Configure Fields button at the top of the Rooms Detail form. The Configure Fields form displays within the Room Details form.

  1. To add a field of the Rooms table to the Room Details form, click the Promoted? toggle.

  2. When you have completed your changes, click Close on the Configure Room Fields form. You return to the Room Details form, where you can see the activated field displayed under the Other Fields heading.
