BIM Manager Tasks: Overview

BIM Managers perform the following tasks to prepare a Revit Model for facility management, integrate Revit Model data with Archibus enterprise data used for facility management, and to integrate CAD and BIM drawings by exporting to DWG format.

• Integrate Revit Model data with Archibus enterprise data used for facility management:

• Adding a New Revit Parameter Mapping - You can add a mapping to re-use data you have in Revit parameters for lifecycle management in Archibus.

• Distributing a Shared-Parameters File for Offline Editing - If you have architects or consultants who will edit the Revit model offline, then you should send them a shared-parameters file.

• Adding a New Family Mapping - Add a new Revit family mapping to map a particular family and type of element to an Archibus asset table.
• Adding a New Asset Type - Add a mapping to work with new asset types in Archibus

• How to Model:

• Prepare a Revit Model for facility management:

• Creating a View of a Shared Central Model for Lifecycle Management - Some sites will use a view into a shared central Revit model for facility management. Using a view has the advantage that the facility management view is updated in lock step with the rest of the architectural model.
• Creating a Facility-Record Model for Lifecycle Management - Other sites will use a copy of the shared central model or of the architectural model to use for facility management. This creates a simpler model that loads more quickly, and enables facility managers to make changes without affecting the architectural as-built drawings.
• Publish Enterprise Graphics directly from Revit. You can publish to SVG, GIS, and KML directly from Revit. You can do so in 2D or 3D format.
• Exporting to DWG Format - Although exporting to DWG is no longer a required part of the publishing operation, it is still available as an optional step.
