Archibus Extensions for BUILDERTM SMS
Import, Export, and Background Data Operations
To import BUILDER™ SMS asset records into Archibus, simply run the inbound master connector. The import operation includes background data, and condition assessment data. Archibus imports background data as well when you run the outbound master connector, to ensure that background data on both platforms always match.
The background data master connector copies BUILDER™ SMS background data to Archibus data tables, and updates Condition Index and Cost to Replace data in Archibus. Since managers use Condition Index and Cost to Replace values to assess funding needs for existing assets, these values need to be up to date. As for all background data, maintain Condition Index and Cost to Replace data in BUILDER™ SMS.
To keep Condition Index and Cost to Replace values, and all background data in Archibus current, set a schedule to run the background data master connector at regular intervals. Optional: Schedule a Connector in Configure Connectors explains how.
The background data master connector updates only background and condition assessment data. It does not import the entire dataset from BUILDER™ SMS to Archibus. You must run the inbound master connector to import the entire dataset, or the outbound master connector to export it.
Note: Import operations with the inbound master connector include background data. Likewise export operations with the outbound master connector begin with transfer of background data from BUILDER™ SMS to Archibus.
Note: After you import existing asset data from BUILDER™ SMS to Archibus, you can modify asset data – or hierarchical data such as organizations, sites, and buildings – in Archibus. You cannot use Archibus to modify UNIFORMAT II classifications, or other BUILDER™ SMS data designated as View only in Archibus.
Note: By default the Classification Code field in the Archibus Equipment table is set to MasterFormat, thus UNIFORMAT II codes imported from BUILDER™ SMS will not immediately show for the Classification Code field. System Administrators need to change the value of the ClassificationCode_SetStandard
application parameter to UNIFORMAT II, in order for the Classification Code field to display the classification codes imported from BUILDER™ SMS. For information, see the discussion on classifications in Define Equipment.
