Reviewing Design to Baseline Variances
After you have defined your design costs, design schedules, baseline costs, and baseline schedules, you can review the variances between the design and baseline estimates by selecting the Review Variances - Design to Baseline task. This task provides you with a three-level report on Design to Baseline variances:
- Project-level variances: The initial Design to Baseline
Variances view is a summary of variances that displays information at
the project level. This view contains fields with clickable links. When
you click a link, a new window opens to display the variance data at the work package level.
Note: If you click a link for a project that does not contain work package data, then no data for the second-level view will be available.
- Work package-level variances: The second-level detail views display variance data at the work packages level. These views also contain clickable links to see details at the action level.
- Action-level variances: The third-level views are shown in the Review Variances form that displays data at the action level.
From any view, click Close to return to the previous view. Click Refresh to refresh the data so that the calculations include the latest data.

The Design to Baseline Variances report uses the Web Central View Analysis feature that allows you to drill down to various levels of detail. For more information on View Analysis views, see the Working with View Analysis Views topic.
