Labor Scheduler: Overview

The Labor Scheduler (ab-bldgops-labor-scheduler.axvw) provides a graphical interface for planning work and scheduling craftspersons. Using the Labor Scheduler, a supervisor or scheduler can drag and drop tasks for work requests onto a calendar that shows all craftspersons in the supervisor's work team. This enables the supervisor to schedule work while viewing the planned hours that each craftsperson will spend on jobs, thereby providing the information required for scheduling for maximum efficiency.

The Labor Scheduler tool considers the defined rules of the governing SLA, such as the service window, holidays, and completion dates, as well as craftspersons' established schedules (shifts, daily schedules, variances. See Concept: Craftsperson Daily Schedules).

When working with the Labor Scheduler keep in mind that it is a forward-looking tool that does not include statistics for the past. It is not a time sheet or scheduling tool for the craftsperson, but rather a scheduling tool for the supervisor. It answers the question: What hours do I have this week to devote to unscheduled (on demand) work?

The general workflow is that supervisors use the left panel to filter and view work requests that need to be scheduled, and then use the right panel to find the appropriate craftspersons to perform that work, based on ability and availability. The supervisor drags and drops work from the left side to the calendar on the right, which creates the craftspersons assignment.

The Labor Scheduler can be used along with other ways of scheduling work:
