subcredit
If a classification standard's credit offers a range of points (such as 1 to 5), the credit is organized as a series of subcredits, with the point value for the subcredits indicating the incremental improvement.
For example, under LEED, a building can earn between 1 and 5 points for the Water-Efficient Landscaping credit depending on the amount by which they reduce their water usage. The subcredits consist of incrementally reducing landscaping water usage by 50 percent (1 point), 65 percent (2 points), 75 percent (3 points), and so on.
The use of subcredits enables a building to earn an appropriate number of points for incremental improvement towards a goal.
