Add an Individual Move to a Group Move

When using the Move Coordinator / Move Console task to work with individual moves, you may want to add individual moves to an existing group move; you can also create a new group move for the individual moves.

Grouping individual move orders into a group move can improve efficiency and minimize disruption to the operation. For example, suppose you have an existing group move for a department and you realize that in the same time frame of the group move, you also need to move an employee who will be joining this department. You can add the individual move order to the group move so that the movers can handle all the moves at once.

Once you select one or more individual moves in the Move Console, the Move Console tab displays the Group Moves button. From here, you can create a group move and add these individual moves to it, or add the selected moves to an existing group move.

To add move orders to an existing group move

  1. Load the Move Coordinator / Move Console task.
  2. Select one or more individual moves from the list by clicking their check boxes; these individual moves must have the same status. Typically, you want to select individual moves that should logically be grouped together in a group move order.
  3. Click the Group Move button, and select the Add to Existing Group Move option from the drop-down list.
    • The Move Console presents a list of existing move projects with one of the following statuses: Created, Requested, Requested-Estimated, Requested on Hold, or Requested-Routed for Approval.
    • Choose a move project, and the Move Console and adds the individual moves to it by completing the project_id field of the Move Order records with the value of the selected move project . If you now filter the Move Console to show this move project, you will see the assigned move orders.

To add move orders to a new group move

  1. Load the Move Coordinator / Move Console task.
  2. Filter the console to show individual moves.
  3. Select one or more individual moves from the list; these individual moves must have the same status. Typically, you want to select individual moves that should logically be grouped together in a group move order.
  4. Click the Group Move button, and select Create New Group Move from the drop-down list.
    • The Move Console presents the Create New Move Project form so that you can specify properties about the new group move. (Recall, a group move is actually a move project.) Complete the fields, and save the form. Note that the Move Console pre-fills several fields with information from the individual move orders. If the data is different among the move order records, the system uses the data in the first move order to pre-fill the form.
  5. Click OK, and the Move Console creates the group move, and adds the individual moves to it by completing the project_id field of the Move Order records with the value of the newly-created move project . If you now filter the Move Console to show Group Moves, you will see the new move project and its assigned move orders.
