trial layer
When working with a layout scenarios, you experiment with different configurations of rooms on trial layers. You add content to trial layers by copying the official Room inventory (RM$) layer to a trial layer and copying the corresponding Room records to the Room Trials (rm_trial) table. The Archibus schema ships with three Room Trial layers, but you can create your own trial layers. Asset symbols on trial layers that you create store their corresponding records in the Room Trials table.
The asset symbols on the trial layers have all the attributes of asset symbols on the official Room layer (division, department, standard, and so on). Working on the trial layer, you can experiment with new configurations by deleting and resizing rooms, creating new rooms, data editing to change department assignments, and so on. All changes are recorded in the Room Trials table.
When you are satisfied with a layout on a trial layer, you can update the official inventory (the Room layer and Rooms table) with the content of the trial layer and Room Trials table.
