Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD

Edit Data Multiple command

Command: AFM_EDITDATAMULT

How to access this command: Run the command from the command line, select Archibus / Asset / Edit Data Multiple from the Ribbon, or choose Edit Data Multiple from the Navigator.

Purpose: The Edit Data Multiple command completes the selected asset symbols’ table-driven fields with values you specify. The command is convenient for editing any asset symbol property from the drawing when you are assigning the same value to multiple assets. It is also convenient for viewing the records of selected asset symbols.

Using the Command

Choose the Archibus / Asset / Edit Data Multiple command, select a set of asset symbols, and the program presents the Asset Type dialog box, which displays a grid containing the active fields of the selected asset symbols’ default view.

If all asset symbols have the same value for a particular field, the field displays this value; if the asset symbols have different values for this field, the field displays "<varies>." To change a field value for all selected asset symbols, enter the value in the grid and process the dialog. If the field is validated, the command presents the Select Values dialog so that you can choose a value from the validating table. When you exit the command, the program updates the database with the values you specified.

The fields displayed in the Asset Type dialog are determined by the default view of the selected asset symbols’ asset type.

Note: The Asset Type dialog does not present a view’s calculated and drawing-driven fields, even if these are active in the current view.

Selecting Asset Symbols

TheArchibus / Asset / Edit Data Multiple command displays records from only one asset table at a time; therefore, if your selection set contains more than one type of asset symbol, the command displays a list of the selected asset types so that you can select the asset type you want to work with.

If you want to be certain of the records that the Edit Data Multiple command presents, include only asset symbols of the same asset type in your selection set.

Note: Since the primary key field for each record must have a unique value, the Edit Data Multiple dialog does not present the primary key field for the selected asset symbols, even if it is active in the view.

Note: If you select one asset symbol and then call this command, the program presents the Asset Type dialog, as the Edit Data command is appropriate for editing one asset symbol at a time.

Note: Double-clicking on a validated field presents the Select Values dialog box.
