Creating New Asset Symbols: Room Example

To depict areas on a floor, such as rooms and suites, you draw polylines on the prototype asset layer. When you connect a polyline to a database record, the program measures the area represented by the polyline and registers this value in the linked record’s Area field.

To draw your polylines, you can use the Draw Polyline tasks found on the Navigator for the appropriate processes. The following text provides general instructions for drawing rectangles and polylines.

To create a room asset symbol

  1. Choose the Draw Rooms task from the Navigator.
  2. From the Navigator in CAD, select the Set Rooms command to make the room prototype layer (RM) the current layer.
  3. From the Navigator, select the Draw Rectangle or Draw Polyline task. The rectangle or polylines you draw are placed on the room prototype layer
  4. From the Ribbon, click the Archibus / Asset / Edit Data command to assign the room a number and add associated data.
