Background Data: Process Overview
Before you can get started with the planning activities, you ill need to develop your space inventory and other basic information.
Develop the Space Inventory and Room Plans
Typically, you will develop your organizational hierarchy, room standard definitions, employees, space inventory, room plans, and so on as part of the Space Inventory or the Occupancy applications.
For information on developing room plans, see Draw Rooms. From your room plan, generate enterprise graphics.
Review and Update your Facility's Space Inventory
If you need to review or edit this information, run the following tasks of the Space / Space Planning / Background Data process.
- Define Geographical Locations
- Define Locations (Sites, Buildings, Floors, Rooms)
- You typically will want to depict each building's floors in floor plan drawings so that you can see the locations of each room.
- Define the Organizational Hierarchy
- Click on the ellipses button of the Highlight Pattern field to access the Set Highlight Pattern dialog for defining the pattern. For information, see Defining Highlight Patterns.The Space & Portfolio Console's stack plan tool uses the color of a division or department's highlight pattern as the color for stack plan elements (allocations) for this organization.
- You can also define highlight patterns for organizational units by running the Background Data / Define Organizational Highlight Patterns task, which offers tools for defining multiple highlights at once.
