Sustainability & Risk / Hazardous Materials / Background Data - Hazmat
Define Container Categories
When an SDS is assigned to a location, you can enter information about the container in which the material is stored. It is important to know the size of the container for inventory reporting as the attributes of the container type provide container size information.
Containers are grouped into categories to aid in organizing a potentially large data set; within a container category, you can define container types.
The US EPA defines conventions for documenting the types of containers. As a convenience, the Container Categories table is already completed with records reflecting EPA conventions.
If you enter container data, you are able to use the Chemical Constituent Inventory report, and the Material Inventory reports to review quantity. These reports calculate quantity based on the container types and the number of containers.
Container Category Fields
Use the Sustainability & Risk / Hazardous Materials / Background Data - Hazmat / Define Container Categories task to define the container categories used at your site.
When the view is first presented, the left pane automatically lists container categories already entered into the system. A Smart Search console in the grid allows you to filter or sort data on any of the displayed columns. For example you might want to filter on categories the start with USEPA.
