Cost and Usage Report
The Cost and Usage reports provide critical data for evaluating your energy consumption and costs. Since these reports do not use the weather model data, the system does not require that bills be entered with monthly sequencing, and that there be only one bill per month.
For a description of the report that uses the weather model calculations, see Usage with Weather Model report.
The Cost Usage task presents charts in a series of tabs. You can set a restriction, and select a tab to see the chart. You can also view the data that the chart is based on. When viewed as data, you can view any documents attached to the bill record.
You can generate the report for the following Bill Types: ELECTRICITY, (default), Gas, Fuel 1, Fuel 2, Propane, and Water. When you make a selection only the tabs relative to this information will be shown.
The Cost and Usage report can include more than one bill of each bill type, from a different vendor, for the same building and time period. For example, if you receive two bills during the same month, one for energy consumption and one for transportation and delivery, both of those bills are included.
Selecting the Data
The Cost and Usage report provides both a drill-down selection list and a Filter console. These features work together to help you define the data shown in the charts.
- Drill-down selection lists: You can report on any level within the drill-down selection list. The program rolls up data from the building to the site to the city to the region to the country. The charts sum the appropriate data to the level you select in the selection list. When you switch between tabs, the data remains filtered to the level you have selected.
- Filter console: You can use the Filter console to show only data from a specific range of Billing Periods, or the units used to display energy consumption (MMBTU or kWh). Select the date range and /or the units and click Apply to generate the chart for that time period or units. When you switch between tabs, the data remains filtered to your selection in the drill-down selection list.
Note: The selection to display MMBTU or kWh applies only to energy consumption. The other measurements will still display using their standard setting. For example, power demand is always expressed as kW.
Viewing data details
The Cost and Usage charts are presented in tabs. You can see the data for the charts in the following ways:
- Drill-down. Click on a bar in the chart to see the bill records that bar is based on.
- Data: Clicking the Data button will open a window containing all the archived bills that make up the data at the current filter level. You can view the Document associated with a specific archived bill by clicking the Document button in the window.
- XLS: Clicking the XLS button will download all the archived bills that make up the data at the current filter level to Microsoft Excel.
- DOC: Clicking the DOC generate a paginated report of all the archived bills that make up the data at the current filter level.
Cost and Usage charts
The following Cost and Usage charts are presented in tabs below the Filter console.
- Utility Cost by Type: This is a pie chart showing the total utility costs for each type of utility associated with the building. This is shown for all bill types. For the Bill Type of Water, it is the only tab shown.
- Utility Cost With Consumption: This is a dual-axis bar chart showing the Total Utility Cost next to the Total Consumption by Billing Period. This is shown for the Bill Type selected in the Filter.
- Bill Type Cost With Rate: This is a dual-axis bar chart showing the total utility cost next to the utility rate by billing period. It is shown if you select Electric, Gas. Fuel Oil 1, Fuel Oil 2, or Propane for the Bill Type.
