Usage with Weather Model Report
The Usage with Weather Model Report reports provide critical data for evaluating your energy consumption and costs. These reports use the weather model data that enables you to compare how much energy you would have used based on the baseline period usage patterns, and this year's conditions (such as weather and number of days) compared to how much you actually used.
See The Weather Model topic for a description of how the application calculates this data.
The Usage with Weather Model task presents charts that show consumption versus the weather model.
The Usage with Weather Model report can include more than one bill for a bill type for the same building and time period. For example, if you receive two bills during the same month, one for energy consumption and one for transportation and delivery, both of those bills are included.
Note: You can generate the Usage with Weather Model report only for Bill Types where the Bill Unit has the Rollup Type of 'Energy / Consumption.' Additionally, be aware that the out-of-the-box code for the weather regression analysis works with only the default bill types (electric consumption and demand, fuel oil, natural gas, and propane. If you add other bill types, you must modify the code to perform weather model calculations.
Note: For the weather model analysis, the application uses only bill records where the Prorated / Aggregated? (bill.prorated_aggregated) field is NO. This means that the application uses only the original bill and not the bill that resulted from the proration or aggregation. This ensures that bills are not double counted.
Note for upgraders who have customized reports: Application developers who have developed their own reports on the resulting data in energy_chart_point might need to update their reports' data sources to account for the updated primary keys. Both the Measurement with Verification and Electric Annual Summary reports used data in the energy_chart_point table.
The report shows only tabs for the data relevant to that bill type
When you select a Bill Type, only the tabs relative to that Bill Type are shown. For electric bills, the reports shows a series of charts in tabs - Electrical Load Factor, Electrical Consumption with Model, and Electric Demand with Model. For all other Bill Types, a single tab showing the actual consumption versus the Model is shown.
Selecting the data
The Usage with Weather Model report provides both a drill-down selection list and a Filter console. These features work together to help you define the data shown in the charts.
- Drill-down selection lists: You can report on any level within the drill-down selection list. The program rolls up data from the building to the site to the city to the region to the country. The charts sum the appropriate data to the level you select in the selection list. When you switch between tabs, the data remains filtered to the level you have selected.
- Filter console: You can use the Filter console to show only data for a specific bill type, or from a specific range of Billing Periods, or the units used to display energy consumption (MMBTU or kWh). Select the bill type, date range and /or the units and click Apply to generate the chart for that time period or units. When you switch between tabs, the data remains filtered to your selection in the drill-down selection list.
Note: The selection to display MMBTU or kWh applies only to energy consumption. The other measurements will still display using their standard setting. For example, power demand is always expressed as kW.
Viewing data details
The Usage with Weather Model charts are presented in tabs. You can see the data for the charts in the following ways:
- Drill-down. Click on a bar in the chart to see the bill records that bar is based on.
- Data: Clicking the Data button will open a window containing all the archived bills that make up the data at the current filter level. You can view the Document associated with a specific archived bill by clicking the Document button in the window.
- XLS: Clicking the XLS button will download all the archived bills that make up the data at the current filter level to Microsoft Excel.
- DOC: Clicking the DOC generate a paginated report of all the archived bills that make up the data at the current filter level.
Usage with Weather Model charts
The following Usage with Weather Mode charts are presented in tabs below the Filter console.
- Electric Load Factor: This is a bar chart showing the Electric Load Factor by Billing Period.
- Bill Type Consumption with Model: This is a bar chart showing the Total Consumption next to the Total Consumption Model data by Billing Period for each Bill Type. This enables you to evaluate how much of this bill type you would have used based on the baseline energy period's consumption patterns compared to your actual consumption based on your bills. Consumption is available for electricity, gas, fuel oil 1, fuel oil 2, propane, and water.
- Electric Demand with Model: This is a bar chart showing the Total Electric Demand next to the Total Electric Demand Model data by Billing Period. This enables you to evaluate how much energy demand you would have had based on the baseline energy period's demand compared to your actual electricity demand based on your energy bills.
