Sustainability & Risk / Hazard Abatement / Field Assessor
Field Assessor: Overview
As a field assessor, you will be assigned a set of facility areas to visit and assess for hazmat deficiencies. A field assessment may take place several times during a hazmat project. The level of detail of your assessment and the scope of budgeting and planning that you want to automate will influence how many field assessments you execute.
Field assessments may be required at these points in the hazmat management process:
- after a project has been started for specific locations, visit the field to assess these locations and estimate cost of a formal inspection
- after a formal inspection and lab results are returned, visit the field and use the lab results to determine the risk rating of each item and to recommend response actions
- after response actions are determined, visit the field to estimate the cost of the response action for each assessment item
- after abatement has been completed, visit the field to verify the response actions, perform air monitoring (if necessary), and confirm that the hazard no longer exists
The facility areas that you must visit as part of your assessment are organized as a set hazard assessment items and will have been assigned to you by an environmental hazard manager.
Tasks
To use Archibus to execute a hazmat field survey, you work with the Hazard Abatement / Field Assessor process. From this area, you can access all the tasks that you require for seeing the list of items assigned to you to assess in the field and then updating the Archibus system with your findings. You will work with these tasks:
Note: The forms that you work with might also be completed by an inspector or an abatement worker. Accordingly, the forms may list fields that are typically completed by these users. As a field assessor, you will find that these fields will be uneditable. Likewise, the help topics documenting these forms may mention fields that are not visible to you and fields that you cannot edit.
- Manage My Project Activity Items -- An environmental hazard manager or facility manager may have decided that some projects or assessment items require management with additional features: communication logs, action items, and service requests. If assessment items assigned to you have these additional management tools or if some projects have action items or service requests assigned to you, you can access these management tools using the Manage My Project Activity Items task. For information, see:
- Manage My Hazard Assessment Items -- This is the main task that you will run to enter into the system the results of your field assessment. You will use this task to:
- provide details on the location of the area you are surveying
- collect samples to be tested for hazardous substances
- record the results of testing the samples
- enter details about surveying the area, the hazmat that you find. and recommended actions
When working with this task, you will see only items that:
have been assigned to you
- for items managed with Service Requests, you must be a member of the work team associated with the service request
- Additionally, the following tasks, which provide location tools for hazmat field work, are available:
- View Locations Navigator
- View Locations List
- View Assessment Items by Location
