How to Transfer Changed Field Titles Between Projects

Customizing field titles is a common and simple customization that has immediate impact on usability. Simply changing the Archibus-supplied field title to a title that reflects your site's business practices and operations can provide a simpler and clearer interface for the user. When users encounter field titles based on your site's terminology and business practices, users will know immediately how to complete the field or analyze its data.

Changing a field title does not affect the structure of the database, so running Schema Change Wizard is not necessary.

If field titles are the only change that you have made, follow this procedure to copy changed field titles between projects with otherwise identical data dictionaries.

  1. Sign into the project that has the customized field titles.
  2. Run the Database Update Wizard as follows:
    • Transfer Type = Transfer Out
    • Specify Files = Data Dictionary Tables
    • Start Transfer
  3. Sign into the project to which the field titles are to be copied.
  4. Run the Database Update Wizard as follows:
    • Transfer Type = Transfer In
    • Select: personalized-database.
    • Select: Next.
    • Specify Files = Data Dictionary
    • Select: Next.
    • Select "Start Compare."
    • In the Multiple Section panel, select "Multi Line Heading" and "Single Line Heading", then click on Filter
    • For each heading to be changed in the new database, select "Apply"
    • Select the panel action "Apply Chosen"
