Database Update Wizard
Before You Use the Database Update Wizard
Before you use the Database Update Wizard to transfer data into the project, consider that the wizard can make global changes and can take some time to execute. You should plan ahead and follow the suggestions below:
- Read the documentation. The procedure topics contain specific instructions on how to use the wizard to copy data, upgrade your database, etc. Be certain you know the specific steps you need to use at your own site.
- Check to see if you have a custom schema. If an Archibus dealer or application specialist has created a custom version of the database for your site, consult with that person before using the wizard.
- Make certain no one else is logged into the destination database. The wizard must make changes to the database, and the server will not allow these changes if portions of the database are locked by another user.
- Back up your destination database. Again, the wizard is a powerful tool that can make far-reaching changes on your project database. Back up your destination database before running the wizard, so that you can always return to the previous form of your database if you need to.
- Consider developing scripts and using the Wizard's Run Script command.
