When you select a task from the Navigator or the My Favorites List, the task runs a view.
Views are a window into the data repository and present dynamic reports and forms that are generated on-the-fly from the Archibus data repository.
Both the Smart Client and Web Central present their data in views. Web Central presents web views, and Smart Client can present web views as well as grid views, which focus on seeing data in bulk.
Both web views and Smart Client grid views are written in XML and stored in .axvw files, although Smart Client grid views use only some of the available view elements.
Views determine the information presented at one time, such as:
- the database tables to present
- the fields within a table to present
- if only records meeting a certain restriction should be presented
- the order in which to present database records
Additionally, Web Central views can:
- specify if the data should be presented as editable or as non-editable in a report
- specify if filter panels should be displayed so that you can restrict the view to showing a select set of data
- display associated floor plans (enterprise graphics)
- display analysis highlights in enterprise graphics
- display a map
- display business charts
- calculate data
- update database fields
-
display drill-down tables and charts with summary data. By simply clicking on an area in a table or chart, you can drill down to obtain the detailed contributing data.
Additionally, Smart Client grid views can:
- activate a drawing tool
