validated field
A field in a table that Archibus monitors to ensure that its value matches a primary key in a corresponding validating table. For example, if Department Code is a validated field in the Employees table, Archibus compares the values entered for this field against the primary keys in the validating table, Departments. Since validated fields link a table to a validating table, they are considered to be foreign key fields.
To complete a validated field, you must enter a value that exists in the validating table. To help you choose an appropriate value, validated fields offer the Select Values list (accessible from the ellipses button), which presents all existing values in the validating table for this field. In addition to choosing a value from the Select Values list, you can also directly type the value. However, if the value you type does not match the existing list of values in the validating table, the system will present an error message and prompt you to correct your entry.
