Chart of Accounts (COA)
A chart of accounts (COA) is a financial organizational tool that provides a complete listing of every account in a company's general ledger. A Chart of Accounts includes a unique account for each type of asset, liability, equity, revenue and expense. It is an organizational tool that provides a breakdown of all the financial transactions that a company conducted during a specific accounting period, broken down into subcategories.
For example, you might have Chart of Accounts based on region:
-
BOMA (USA)
-
RICS (UK)
-
NEN2748 (Netherlands)
Each of these COA sources has groupings (general ledger entries) such as:
-
Income
-
Operating Expenses
-
Unplanned
-
Depreciation
When defining Archibus accounts in the Accounts table, you can optionally associate each account with a COA Grouping, so that Archibus can summarize your transactions by COA Groupings.
