heating degree days (HDD)

The number of degrees that the average outside air temperature is above the building's heating balance point. The heating balance point is the temperature at which the building's heating system begins to operate. Heating degree days reflect the building's demand for energy related to heating.

The Energy application calculates degree days as part of the weather model data it creates when you run the Update Calculations task.
