straight line depreciation

A method of calculating depreciation expenses in which the cost of the item is spread over its depreciation period (service life) in equal periodic charges. The following formula calculates the monthly depreciation expense:

Monthly Depreciation Expense = (Cost Purchase - Salvage Value)/ Depreciation Period for Property Type
