Once you become familiar with managing space and occupancy using the videos and help topics from previous lessons, you will want to get started developing your own space and occupancy data. You have two choices:
- Develop this data yourself, using this lesson as a guide
- Outsource your data and drawing development.
After your business partner sets up an Archibus project for your site, follow the below procedure to enter data about your facility.
Enter your buildings, room categories, divisions, and departments
In the Foundations / Background Data section of the sidebar menu, you will find the tasks for adding the following information to your project. For categories, you can use the predefined list or create your own.
- Create your organizational hierarchy
- Define locations (buildings and floors)
- Use the predefined list of room categories
- Create your own room categories
Create your floor plan drawings with rooms
The task of converting your floor plan drawings for use with Archibus is covered in its own lesson.
Assign organizations and room categories to rooms
Once your CAD manager defines floor plan drawings, use the Space Console to assign properties to the rooms on each floor.
Review your room data, and specify if a room can be reserved for meetings or working space.
- Define rooms
- Specify rooms as reservable for working space (if you have a license for the Reservations module)
- Specify rooms as reservable for meeting space (if you have a license for the Reservations module)
Import your employees into Archibus and assign employees to rooms
You can enter employees directly into Archibus. Or, you may have a list from your Human Resources department that you can import. Once the employees are listed in Archibus, you can assign them to rooms.
- Ensure rooms have capacity values (4:15)
- Bulk import employees (5:23)
- Add individual employees (1:39)
- Assign employees to rooms (3:35)
