equipment system

An equipment system is a collection of assemblies and components. Equipment systems define the relationship between two or more assets, showing which asset is dependent on another asset for its functioning. To show this dependency, Archibus presents equipment systems in an inventory tree where you can drill down from a system to its assembly and component assignments.

For example, an HVAC system is an equipment system that consists of the following assemblies: duct work, fan coil unit, dampers (fire / smoke), VAV, hot water heating steam system, and chilled water system. These assemblies are, in turn, made up of components.

If you are working with the BIM Viewer, you can use the 3D representation of the building to see the system's component items on various floors. You can also trace an asset's dependents and dependencies.

Equipment systems can be associated with building systems.
