assembly
A group of parts, especially a group that forms a self-contained, independently mounted unit. A collection of assemblies makes up an equipment system.
An assembly may be made up of other assemblies, or of components. For example: a material analysis diagnostic equipment system is made up of two assemblies: a chemical analysis station and a metallurgic analysis stations. The chemical analysis station assembly is made up of a standard PC lab diagnostic assembly, a scanning electron microscope, a ICP Spectrometer, and a workstation table. The standard PC assembly is made up of two components: a CPU and a monitor.
An asset may arrive as an assembly; for example, an Air Handler Unit, a Lab diagnostic system, a Security surveillance system, or a backup generator. The assembly may be partially or completely configured by this single asset.
