position (Archibus Client/Server and Asset Portal)

On telecommunication devices that permit multiple connections (such as punch blocks and cables), the actual items to which devices connect.

In Archibus Client/Server (no longer supported beginning with V.25.1), you could create and delete positions as needed while modeling your telecom system with Client/Server's Connect form. The Asset Portal application includes tasks that use this field.

In Client/Server, you could use positions to model a device’s terminations when all you need to track by way of administrative information is the existence of the termination and its number.

The Asset Portal application, which is the original asset application and was designed to provide a Web-based portal into asset data that you developed in Archibus Client/Server, has tasks for working with the positions. The Telecom Console, used by the Assets, Enterprise Assets and Telecom Assets applications, does not use positions.
