scope 3 emissions
Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions not covered in Scope 2. For example, emissions resulting from the extraction and production of purchased materials and fuels, transport-related activities in vehicles not owned or controlled by the reporting entity, electricity-related activities not covered in Scope 2 (such as transmission and distribution losses) outsourced activities, and waste disposal. Scope 3 emissions capture emissions from the employee activities and processes associated with the building. Although reporting scope 3 emissions is optional for some protocols, including them provides a more complete view of a building's carbon footprint.
