Space / Space Inventory / Group Inventory
Define Group Standards
If you wish, you may classify the types of groups in your facility by developing group standards. For example, the sample HQ project provides group standards such as, DEPT-AREA, LOUNGE, RECEPTION, ASSEMBLY, FOOD-FAC, and COMMON. Classifying groups with group standards is handy for gaining an understanding of how space is used at your site, and for highlighting groups on floor plan drawings according to their standards. For example, you can quickly see on your floor plan drawings the departmental areas, reception areas, and other common areas.
A CAD specialist has access to the defined standards and can classify the groups when developing them on the floor plan drawing, or a Web Central user can add this information after the Group records are generated from the floor plan drawing.
- Select the Space Inventory / Group Inventory / Define Group Standards task.
- Click the Add New button.
- In the right pane, complete the following information:
- Group Std. Code -- Enter a unique value to identify this standard.
- Description -- Enter a descriptive name for the standard, , such as Lounge.
- Highlight Pattern ACAD -- Complete with the value representing the pattern by which you want to highlight entities assigned to this group standard in CAD drawings.
- For example, you can run the "Highlight Groups by Standard" query to have the system highlight groups according to the standard to which they belong. This field determines the pattern by which groups assigned to this standard are highlighted.
- The number sequences represent the combination of AutoCAD colors and patterns (solid, hatch, or gradient). If you know the number of the AutoCAD color and pattern combination that you desire, type in this number. Otherwise, click on the ellipses button to access a form for choosing a color and highlight pattern. Once you choose the color and pattern combination, the system will display its corresponding AutoCAD number.
- Click Save in the upper right corner.
