organizational hierarchy
The hierarchy of how different organizations in a company relate. Archibus assumes an organizational hierarchy of business units owning divisions, and divisions owning departments. Within the organizational hierarchy, the Divisions and Departments tables form a strict hierarchy, so that the owning division contributes to a department's primary key. The Business Units table is not part of the strict hierarchy; a business unit can own a division, but does not contribute to the primary key of the division. For financial reporting, each component of the organizational hierarchy can be considered to be a cost center. See also cost center, hierarchy, strict hierarchy, multipart key.
