Entering Data for Solid Wastes

Use the Wastes (Solid) tab to enter the Waste Name for the solid waste for which you want to calculate emissions, the amount that was disposed of, and the amount that was recycled. The application uses the solid waste factors entered for this Waste Name using the protocol identified by the Solid Waste Factors Version entered on the Building Footprint Details tab.

To enter data for solid waste:

  1. Select Carbon Footprint - Track / Enter Building Footprint Data.
  2. From the Building Footprints panel, select the building and calculation year for which you are entering consumption data.
  3. Select the Indirect Emissions (Scope 3) tab.
  4. Select the Wastes (Solid) tab.
  5. In the Waste Disposal (Solid) Footprints panel, click Add New.
  6. In the Waste Disposal Solid (Source) panel, enter the following required information:

    Waste Name: Select the name for this waste. You select from the kinds of waste your Business Process Owner has set up using the Background Data - Carbon Footprint / Solid Waste Factors task.

    Amount Disposed (Not Recycled)

    Amount Recycled

    Amount Disposed or Recycled Units: Enter the units used to measure the amounts disposed or recycled.

  7. Click Save.

    The application calculates greenhouse gas emissions for this source, and displays the emissions in the upper Footprints panel.
