vapor density
Vapor density is the weight per unit volume of a pure gas or vapor. On an SDS, the vapor density is commonly given as the ratio of the density of the gas or vapor to the density of air. The density of air is given a value of 1. Light gases (density less than 1), such as helium, rise in air. If there is inadequate ventilation, heavy gases and vapors (density greater than 1) can accumulate in low-lying areas such as pits and along floors.
