Comparing Telecom Connections in Archibus Client/Server and Web Central

The Telecom Console in Web Central differs in some respects from the Archibus Client/Server telecom inventory tools.

Users wishing to migrate data can use a workflow rule and procedure to convert telecom data developed in Client/Sever to the format used by Web Central.

Note: Beginning with V.25.1, Archibus Windows Client/Server is no longer supported.

Asset Types

Web Central's Telecom Console does not currently use the following asset types, which were available in Archibus Client/Server:

When using the Telecom Console to create new assets, use these guidelines to model elements that were available in Archibus Client/Server:

This item supported in Archibus Client/Server ... should be modeled as this in Web Central
punch blocks patch panels
network devices telecom area equipment
cards telecom area equipment
standalone ports

jacks

-- or --

ports on a patch panel

cables and wireways not supported

To convert an existing Client/Server telecom inventory, see Converting Telecom Data Developed in Client/Sever to the Format Used by Web Central.

Connection Inventory

The Telecom Console does not support the Connections table, which was used in Archibus Client/Server. Instead, the system stores connection data directly within the asset record. Consequently, the asset tables now have these additional fields, which enable you to indicate how a piece of equipment is connected to other points in the network.
