inferring

Obtaining field values for an asset from the values of a surrounding area asset symbol. For example, under the default schema, if a room asset symbol includes division and department information and houses an equipment item, inferring completes the equipment's organization and location information with the information from the room area asset symbol.

The default schema calls for inferring space and organizational values, but you can infer any values by specifying them in the Schema Preferences table.
