Perform Chargeback

To have the system determine the financial charge of each department's use of space, run the Perform Chargeback task.

In general terms, the chargeback action does the following:

For each area (room or group) that a department occupies, the action calculates the chargeable cost of the area by using the Cost per Area (square foot or square meter) value of the area's associated room, room category, floor, or building.
For non-vertical penetration areas that are not assigned to departments (that is to say, common areas and remaining areas), the system calculates the chargeable cost of the area by using the Cost per Area value of the associated room, room category, floor, or building. It then determines each department's share of these areas and proportionately distributes the area costs among all the departments within the same floor, the same building, or the same site. The distribution among departments of the floor, building, or site is determined by each common and remaining area's Prorate value.
For each department, the system totals the chargeable cost for all assigned areas and all proportionately distributed common areas and remaining areas. Space managers can internally bill, or charge back, this amount to the department.
