Rentable Area (Concept)
Building owners, architects, and appraisers use the rentable area in analyzing the economic potential of a building. Tenants use the rentable area for lease verification and negotiation.
The rentable area of a floor is fixed for the life of a building and is not affected by changes in corridor size or configuration.
How it is Calculated
A floor’s rentable area is calculated by subtracting the vertical penetration area from the internal gross area.
