Adding Mobile Factors
Mobile factors are sources of data for emissions from the combustion of fuels in rail and road vehicles.
You first add the mobile emission protocols and their version, and then add the mobile emission factor data by vehicle type.
To add mobile emission protocol versions and data:
- Select Carbon Footprint - Background Data / Mobile Factors.
The Define Mobile Emissions Factors Versions, Transportation Types and Data form appears.
- To add mobile factors protocol version information:
- Click Add New > Mobile Emission Factors Version.
- Enter the following information:
Version: Enter the name of the protocol version you are using for mobile factors. The Version uniquely identifies this protocol version.
Version Description. Enter a description for the protocol, such as the table number the data is found in, or the year the data is for.
- Click Save.
- To enter mobile transportation types and data:
- Select a mobile emission factors version from the drill-down list.
- Click Add New > Mobile Emission Factors Transportation Type and Data.
- In the Mobile Emission Factors Version panel, enter the following information:
Transportation Type: Select Rail or Road to indicate the type of vehicle this emission factor is for.
Vehicle Type: Enter the vehicle type for this transportation type. For example, enter Medium Gasoline Automobile for the Road Transportation Type. You can mouse over the field to click the Show Values button to select from the existing vehicle types. If this type is not unique for the factor version, you will need to edit it. You can also enter a type manually into the form. See Selecting predefined data for the primary keys for new records.
Carbon Dioxide (CO2): Enter the carbon dioxide emissions for this vehicle type.
CO2 Units: Select the units used for the carbon dioxide measurement. By default CO2 emissions are measured as kilogram / mile, but you can define different units if needed. See Defining Units.
Methane (CH4) / : Enter the methane emissions for this vehicle type.
CH4_N2O Units: Select the units used for the CH4 and N2O measurements. By Default, methane emissions are measured as gram/mile, but you can define any units your protocol requires. See Defining Units.
Nitrous Oxide (N2O): Enter the nitrous oxide emissions for this vehicle type. Nitrous oxide uses the same units you enter for Methane.
- Click Save.
The units fields are updated to the units you have selected.
