Entering the Cost of Resolving Hazmat Issues

After the work to resolve a deficiency has been completed, you can enter the cost of resolving this issue. Taking the time to track and enter the cost of resolving hazmat issues enables you to generate assessment analysis reports that include this important cost information. If you have previously estimated the cost of resolving hazmat deficiencies, you will be able to compare your estimated and actual costs.

Note: If you are using the Corrective Maintenance application to manage work using service requests, you can complete the cost information for assessment items by obtaining it from the Total Cost field of the associated work request. See Using Service Requests with your Hazmat Assessment Items and Projects.

1. Select the Manage Assessment Items task.
2. Select the hazard assessment project and choose Show to see a list of existing assessment items for this project.

• The system shows as many assessment items for this project, as can display in the lower pane.
• If necessary, use the filter console to limit the list of assessment items. For example, you may wish to see items only for a particular floor.
• Complete the following fields.
  

  Field	Description
  Cost Actual (Expense)	Enter the amount that it cost to remedy this item as an expense. This normally applies to items with a useful life of under one year, as otherwise you would want to treat the item as a capital cost
  Cost Actual (Capital)	Enter the amount that it cost to remedy this item as a capital expenditure. This is the amount spent during a particular period to acquire or improve long-term assets such as properties, plants, and equipment

4. You can now run reports that present actual cost information, such as the following:

• Hazard Assessment Items Summary
• Hazard Activity Summary
• Hazard Assessment Costs by Project
