Archibus Smart Client Extension for Revit

Check the Model Before Publishing (Archibus Model Checker)

To ensure successful publishing of your Revit model to Archibus enterprise graphics, you may wish to check your Revit model with the Archibus Model Checker. The Archibus Model Checker is built on the power of the Autodesk Model Checker and helps you identify and resolve problems with geometry and meta data, such as open polylines or duplicated objects. These types of problems can prevent successful publishing or slow down performance of Archibus views the use enterprise graphics from a faulty Revit model.

You specify the exact properties that you wish to check, and then review the generated report that details the issues that will impede publishing your model. The check works with all Revit models, including non-standard models, such as models of a hospital complex or stadium.

The Archibus Model Checker is built on the Autodesk Model Checker. For information on the Autodesk Model Checker, see this Autodesk video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj5JCm8eC5E

Install the BIM Interoperability Tools

  1. Download the Autodesk BIM Interoperability tools from the Autodesk website. The download is available from https://interoperability.autodesk.com/modelchecker.php.

  2. Install the Model Checker. When the installation is complete, you will see the “BIM Interoperability Tools” tab on the Revit ribbon. Installing the BIM Interoperability tools automatically installs the Archibus Model Checker, which is an XML file that is located in the Public Library. You may wish to move it to My Library for easy access.

Specify the Archibus Model Checker and the Properties you Want to Check

You can specify the types of issues that you wish to check.

  1. From Revit's ribbon, select BIM Interoperability Tools and then Model Checker / Setup. Choose the Archibus Model Checker from the Public Library.

  2. To specify the model items that you wish the Model Checker to examine, expand the various categories on the form and choose the desired items. Save your changes.

Run the Model Checker and Resolve Issues

  1. Load the model you wish to check.

  2. From Revit's ribbon, select BIM Interoperability Tools and then Model Checker / Run. You will run the last model checker that you specified with Model Checker / Setup. If this was not Archibus Model Checker, first run Model Checker / Setup and choose it.

  3. In the resulting form, you can choose to check just the current model or multiple models, and also choose to check links. For information, see the Autodesk video: Model Checker for Revit - Running Checks.

  4. When the check finishes, it presents the results in a report.

  5. Drill into the report for specifics on the errors that the check encountered. For example, expand the Data Validation / Rooms section, and you can see the specific rooms that are not enclosed. Click on the element ID, and you move to this element to correct the problem. Once you correct the issue, run the Model Checker again and verify that the issue is, indeed, corrected. See the Autodesk Model Checker for Revit - Running Checks video for details.

  6. Continue to resolve items and re-run the model checker until you are satisfied that the model will successfully publish.

  7. If you need to share the report with others, export it to Excel, HTML, or copy it to the clipboard to be pasted into an email or document.

Modify the Archibus Model Checker or Create your own Model Checker

You can create additional model checkers or modify your copy of the Archibus model checker by using the Autodesk Model Checker Configurator tool. Download this tool from: https://interoperability.autodesk.com/modelcheckerconfigurator.php
