parent table
A table role in which a table controls or organizes other tables in the view. For example, if the Buildings table is the parent table for the Floors table, the view displays the floor records in terms of the buildings they are assigned to; all the floors for building HQ are listed under building HQ, all the floors for building TOWER are listed under building TOWER, and so forth. Multiple tables can play the parent role; for example, buildings can be parents to floors, which in turn can be parents to rooms. Not all views have tables playing the parent role.
