Getting Results with Archibus
Energy
With high energy costs, new sustainability mandates, and “cap and trade” legislation discussions, energy management is top-of-mind at all organizations. The Archibus Energy application is a cost management program that analyzes your energy costs and helps you make decisions for today's energy-conscious business environment.
Unlike spreadsheets or your finance software alone, Archibus provides degree-day features for normalizing fluctuations in weather, energy-specific audits for finding errors in complex energy bills, and what-if analyses to evaluate the potential costs of energy increases or savings due to conservation, renovation, co-generation, or demand-response agreements.
The application enables you to flexibly manage your utility bills. For example:
- If you receive energy bills that are for more than one building, you can use the Enter Bills for Groups of Buildings task to enter bills for that group of buildings, and have the application prorate the bill using the proration method you define for the group.
- If you have linked internal meters to vendor accounts, you are able to receive alerts when the discrepancy between the measured values from your electrical meters and the billed quantities exceed a certain threshold.
Unlike standalone applications, Archibus can map your energy data to buildings to match energy use with your strategic master plan, and to your lines of business to match the energy spent against your business plan.

Reasons for Automating |
To save time by reducing the manual effort involved in energy cost accounting. To gain transparency into energy costs and reduce errors in payments. To identify key targets for energy cost reductions by conservation, renovation, or strategic moves to more energy-efficient buildings. To evaluate the dollars-and-cents impact of possible changes in energy cost and the impact of energy reduction programs, such as weatherizing or window replacement. To quantify progress towards carbon footprint reduction goals, and to reduce strategic risk due to regulatory changes. |
