About Server Sizing Specifications
As needs vary greatly, there is no one size that fits all for server specifications. Large deployments should consult their Archibus business partner or Archibus Professional Services for server sizing. The server sizing process examines which applications are in use, the number of casual, workflow, mobile, CAD, BIM, and expert users that are using the system concurrently.
Some typical configurations are below.
- For single-user workstations, administrators can install the application server, the Sybase Web Edition server, Web Central, and the Smart Client on a workstation-class machine. This workstation can also be the host for Archibus mobile devices synchronizing data.
- Small one-to-three-person workgroups can also typically be served from a workstation-class machine. This workstation can also be the host for Archibus mobile devices synchronizing data.
- Larger workgroups will typically opt for a separate application server for running Web Central and a separate database server for running the database. These servers will most usually have one core for every 50 to 150 users, depending on workload.
