Before You Begin Installing Archibus with Sybase
Archibus works with two versions or editions of the Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere database server:
- Single-User / Authoring server
- Multi-user server
Note: Sybase database servers may be used for demonstration, training. and development; they are not tested for production deployment.
Single-User / Authoring Server
The Single-User / Authoring server is a personal server. It provides these features to make it appropriate for sites that are making changes to their schema, or that are creating a new schema:
- It supports the use of the ALTER TABLE and CREATE TABLE SQL statements so that you can create new SQL tables.
- It supports the use of stored procedures and triggers. Several Archibus features operate slightly differently in the Single-User version of Archibus in order to avoid using the stored procedures and triggers allowed by the Single-User/Authoring and Multi-User versions of Sybase.
Purchase the Single-User / Authoring server separately from the Archibus program. It installs from its own setup program.
Multi-User Server
The Multi-User server has all of the features of the Single-User / Authoring server, but it also allows multiple users to access databases simultaneously. Sybase sites that have multi-user versions of Archibus use this server to support workgroup configurations.
The Multi-User database server program also includes the customization features found with the Single-User / Authoring server.
Purchase the Multi-User server separately from the Archibus program. It installs from its own setup program. See Installing a Sybase Multi-User Configuration.
