System Requirements for Archibus SaaS
- The client system requirements – for Web browsers, mobile devices, Smart Client and CAD workstations, and the Reservations Plug-In for Microsoft Outlook – are the same as for the non-SaaS Archibus software and are listed below.
- The server system requirements are not needed since Archibus SaaS is hosted by Archibus on Amazon Web Services.
Client System Requirements for Archibus
Web Browsers
The following desktop browsers are supported:
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based)
Note: Web Central is tested on the most recent versions of Firefox, Edge, and Chrome available at the time of release. Characteristics of versions released later may vary.
Note: Support for Internet Explorer has been discontinued.
Additionally, you need:
- a screen resolution of 1280x1024 is recommended for administrative stations on which users mostly view forms and simple reports.
- a screen resolution of 1600x900 is recommended for professional workstations on which users typically view dashboard views, floor plan drawings, maps, and multiple types of data at one time.
Smart Client Workstations
Workstations using the Archibus Smart Client will need one of these operating systems:
- Windows 10 or 11, Desktop or Surface version, using the Desktop UI (not the Metro UI)
Note: Microsoft has a continuous release strategy for Windows. Archibus tests Web Central on the most recent versions available at the time of release. Characteristics of versions released later may vary.
The Smart Client requires .Net Framework V.4.0 or 4.5.
The Smart Client requires these hardware items:
- 2 GB RAM (minimum)
- Resolution of 1024x768 (recommended 1600x900 or higher for CAD and BIM workstations)
- For the Client-Only Install: 100MB free hard disk space
CAD Workstations
These versions of Autodesk products are supported:
- AutoCAD or Autodesk Architecture 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023
- Autodesk Revit or Autodesk Revit MEP 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023
You use the Smart Client Extensions for AutoCAD or Revit on 64-bit workstation.
Workstations using AutoCAD, Revit, or Autodesk Architecture may have additional hardware requirements. Please refer to your Autodesk product documentation.
Note: Archibus does not run with AutoCAD LT. As of Archibus V.24.1, the AutoCAD Smart Client DWG Editor is no longer distributed.
If you are using the Archibus Smart Client Extension with one of these Autodesk products, the Autodesk product will install a later version of the .Net Framework:
Autodesk Product | .Net Framework Version Installed |
---|---|
AutoCAD 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 |
.Net 4.6 |
Revit 2018 |
.Net 4.52 |
Revit 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 | .Net 4.7 |
Note: Revit's binary files are built with .Net 4.52, but the Revit product uses the .Net 4.6 runtime.
Archibus Workplace and Archibus Workplace Mobile App
Archibus Workplace can be run from a Web browser on both mobile and desktop browsers. It can also be downloaded from the Apple Store or the Google Play Store as a native, stand-alone mobile app .
The URLs are as follows, with parenthesis optional:

Android phone | Android 9 and higher |
Archibus OnSite
The Archibus OnSite mobile app supports devices running:
Device | Operating System |
---|---|
Apple iPhone |
Apple iOS 12 and higher |
Android phone | Android 9 and higher |
We verify the app using the two most recent iOS versions and Android versions 9,10, and 11.
We verify the Android app using Google and Samsung devices.
OnSite requires these versions of Archibus Web Central:
OnSite Version | Requires Archibus Version |
---|---|
1.0 |
Archibus V.26.3 |
1.2 | Archibus V.2022.01 -- or -- Archibus V.26.3 with Patch (requested from Archibus Customer Service) |
2.0 | Archibus V.2022.02 |
Note: The app stores offer the latest version of OnSite. However, if you require an older version of OnSite because you are using an older version of Archibus, we can provide the appropriate version of OnSite. For example, if you have Archibus V.2022.01, we can provide an OnSite 1.2 deliverable for you to download and install to your devices. This policy pertains to Archibus V.26.3 with Patch, and later. Should you use an older version of OnSite, note that we will provide only critical bug fixes and security-related patches.
Archibus Mobile Apps: Archibus Mobile Client for iOS and Android
If you use the native Archibus Mobile Client downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play, Archibus mobile applications will run on:
- Apple and Android phones
- Apple and Android tablets (but not Windows tablets)
Specific supported devices and operating systems are these:
Supported Device for Archibus Mobile Apps | Operating System |
---|---|
Apple iPhone Apple tablets: the iPad and iPad Mini |
Apple iOS 12, 13, 14 |
Android tablets and phones: Samsung Galaxy, and the Nexus 7 |
Android OS 9, 10, 11 Note: Hundreds of mobile device manufacturers certify that they are 100% Android-compatible and will run Android-tested applications, such as Archibus, without error. Experience in the field shows that these claims by reputable manufacturers are most usually the case; however, Archibus has not verified each mobile manufacturer's Android compatibility directly. Archibus focuses its verification on Samsung and Nexus, which with their majority market share act as reference implementations. Note: For security reasons the application server must use HTTP Secure (https) to deliver content in order to support Mobile Client running on Android devices. |
Archibus Mobile Apps: Running from a Web Browser
Archibus mobile applications can be run from a Web browser on both mobile and desktop browsers, except Safari. The URL is in the format: http://localhost:8080/archibus/schema/ab-products/common/mobile/src/AppLauncher/index.html.
The apps work on HTML5-compliant Web browsers that support the SQLite feature, such as Chrome. However, they will not load in the Chrome desktop browser when Web Central is operating in a non-secure (http) context, unless the URL used is localhost.
Running mobile apps from a Web browser on a desktop or tablet computer is useful for demonstrating mobile integration with Archibus; however, this deployment is not formally tested by Archibus.
Server System Requirements for Archibus
These are the system requirements for the complete Archibus suite (the Archibus Non-SaaS).
Database Servers
Archibus U.S. English Language Versions and International Versions (non-U.S. English languages) support these servers:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019
- Oracle 12c, 18c, or 19c
Application Servers
Archibus fully supports:
-
Apache Tomcat 9, using OpenJDK 11
Note: Archibus does not support Tomcat 10.
Note: Your server hardware requirements will vary depending on the number of concurrent users you have working with Archibus. For more details. see About Server Sizing Specifications.
Note: IIS is supported via Apache JK. For information, see Deployment for Internet Information Server (IIS)

Compatibility
Smart Client
With minor exceptions, you can use the V.24.1, V.25.x, V.26.x and V.2022.x Smart Client and the Smart Client Extensions for Revit and AutoCAD interchangeably with the V.24.1, V.25.x, V.26.x and V.2022.x Web Central application servers.
Esri
The Archibus Map Views depend on an embedded service from Esri, the ArcGIS Online Map Services. Currently, Archibus, Inc. arranges for these service feeds, and intends to leave them bundled with Web Central at no extra charge as long as we can continue to arrange the service. However, Archibus, Inc. reserves the right to discontinue this service at anytime without notice. This service is covered by the Esri Terms of Use (http://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/reference/terms-of-use.htm ) and not by the Archibus EULA.
BIRT Report Engine
The BIRT report engine V.4.6 requires JDK 1.8 to run. BIRT is maintained by the Eclipse Foundation, which is responsible for its compatibility with different application servers and which manages all fixes and updates to the report engine. The Eclipse Foundation states that BIRT is compatible with JBoss. Archibus, Inc. has verified this statement with Tomcat. Archibus, Inc. makes no warranty on the BIRT software or its fitness for a particular purpose. Use of BIRT is optional for any Archibus application and is not required for use of any of the Archibus documented features.
Web Central 3D Navigator
Users of the Web Central 3D Navigator need an Edge, Firefox, or Chrome browser that supports WebGL.
The browser may disable WebGL if the graphics card and operating system is not "white-listed", that is, one for which the manufacturer has verified that the driver supports the full WebGL protocol. Internet Explorer is not supported.
You may wish to visit one of the sites below to test if WebGL is supported on your browser.
- chrome://gpu/
- https://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting/Blocked_Graphics_Drivers/
WebGL support on mobile devices is relatively new and not very consistent. Support is dependent on the device itself, the operating system version, the browser version, and the complexity of the model, with some devices displaying simple models well but not complex ones. Use one of the most recent devices and operating systems, and test your chosen device for your intended purpose and type of model.
Archibus Mobile
The Android Mobile Client will not launch the mobile apps when Web Central is operating in a non-secure (http) context. If any clients are currently using the Mobile Client with Android against a non-secure web URL, either stop automatic Android updates to prevent this issue, or secure the web server to use an https URL.
The Archibus Mobile Clients require the following Web Central versions; likewise, the Web Central versions require the corresponding Mobile Client versions
Web Central Version | Archibus Mobile Client Version |
---|---|
Web Central V.23.2 to V.26.1 | Mobile Client 3.0 |
Web Central V.26.2 and later | Mobile Client 4.0 |
Therefore, if you upgrade your Web Central, you must upgrade your mobile users to the corresponding Archibus Mobile Client. Likewise, you must update your Web Central version and database if you wish to use the corresponding Mobile Client.
Support for your Mobile Deployments
- Manufacturers release new versions of the mobile operating systems almost monthly, and these operating system releases on all platforms have been observed to contain defects and elements that are not upward compatible. Sites looking for uninterrupted support of their mobile users may wish to avoid automatic updates of operating systems on mobile devices before their system administrators have vetted them.
- Archibus tests its mobile apps on the most recent versions of the mobile operating systems available at the time of release. Archibus ensures that mobile operating system, the mobile device hardware, the Archibus Mobile Client that accesses that hardware, and the server-side Archibus Web Central libraries that communicate with the client all work together to deliver features and data to mobile devices. New manufacturer releases of mobile operating systems may require your deployment install new components from Archibus
- Sites looking for continuous support may wish to consider Archibus Software Subscription; this ensures that they can always upgrade to these newer components.
- Sites looking to standardize on a particular version of Archibus and have newer changes made backward-compatible may wish to consider an Enterprise Support agreement with Archibus.
Microsoft Office Support Libraries
Archibus integrates with Microsoft Office.
For information on the supported versions of Microsoft products, see Microsoft Office Support Libraries.
Windows Client/Server
The Windows Client/Server product has been discontinued. While no Windows Client/Server compatibility features have been removed, Windows Client/Server compatibility is no longer supported.
