promoted field
A field may exist within the Archibus schema -- that is, it is a stock field defined in the Archibus Fields table -- but it is not available for editing or display in your view. For views that take advantage of the View Configuration feature, you can "promote" this field and make it available to all views that use this table and support the View Configuration feature.
For example, the Define Locations view does not display the Room table's Room Use field by default. Using the View Configuration feature, you can promote the Room Use field so that it is available in all views that use the View Configuration feature and present the Rooms table.
You can promote fields in the following tables:
- Buildings
- Floors
- Rooms
- Equipment
- Equipment Standards
- Employees
Fields defined with the following values for the Archibus Type field in the Archibus Fields table (afm_flds.afm_type
) are omitted from the Configure Fields list and are not available to be promoted:
- Dwgname
- Ehandle
- Layr
- Doc Stg
Additionally, the following fields cannot be promoted:
- GISObjectID (
bl.geo_objectid
) - GISObjectID (r
m.geo_objectid
).
The ability to promote and de-promote fields is are available to any power user assigned to a role with the SYS-VIEW-ALTER or SYS-VIEW-NEW security group.
When you promote or de-promote a field, Archibus updates the field definition by completing the Promoted? field of the Archibus Fields table (afm_flds.is_promoted
).
